Fighting Style

Diego fights with a personalized version of street fighting, a "martial art" based on the raw and ruthless style of dark alleys that mixes self-defense with aggression. Anything goes in a street fight, whether it is hard punches, tackles, shoulder charges, or headbutts. Many of his stronger moves are based on his experiences with fighting in confined quarters and next to walls, including feints and charged blows. Though street fights normally take place in the streets, as the name implies, they’re virtually synonymous with barroom brawls and riot scenes, enabling Diego to fight anywhere, at any time, while making use of whatever terrain or surroundings he finds himself in.
In contrast to the form and finesse of the other fighters, Diego is just an untrained, scrappy brawler using unsophisticated street fighting. He has no trained "style" to be recognized, unlike taekwondo, jeet kune do, or karate, but makes up for it by packing a mean punch. Diego hones his self-taught skills through regular brawls and training, though he dismisses the notions of "inner focus" and "calmness" other Eastern martial arts encourage. His "style" makes use of aggressive power, aiming to overwhelm his opponent as fast as possible by hitting as hard as possible and claim victory. "Dirty" tactics like foot stomps or headbutts can make him appear an uncouth fighter compared to more disciplined combatants, but Diego has his pride and earns respect from other fighters in the ring, which he may or may not return depending on the situation.
Diego makes use of his entire body during a fight and doesn’t favor one part over another. Punches, elbow strikes, kicks, knee strikes, shoulder tackles, and headbutts are intermixed with grabs, grapples, counters, and defensive blocks or evasive dodges. Though he doesn’t display as much speed, agility, or flexibility as other fighters, Diego can move quick enough to avoid short-ranged gunshots, is agile enough to duck and jump while continuing to attack, and he is flexible enough to go into a full split without discomfort. His street-toughened build and determination enable him to tank more damage than some fighters and he’s not afraid to take a hard blow if it means getting into an advantageous position.
